چکیده

presented. The hydrolysis constants are selected preferentially from experimental studies at actinide trace concentrations, where the interference of colloid formation can be excluded. Unknown formation constants of mononuclear complexes An(OH)n are estimated by applying a semi-empirical electrostatic model and an empirical correlation with the known constants of other actinide ions. Based on the known and estimated hydrolysis constants, the solubility products of An(OH)4(am) or AnO2 2 imental solubility data available in the literature. The SIT is used for ionic strength corrections. The solubilities of U(IV), Np(IV), and Pu(IV) hydroxides or hydrous oxides can be calculated by accounting only for mononuclear hydrolysis species. The considerably higher solubilities of amorphous Th(IV) precipitates at pH ,5 include major contributions of polynuclear species. The solubility data in acidic solutions depend strongly on the preparation and crystallinity of the solid phase. In neutral and alkaline solutions, where An(OH)4(aq) are the predominant aqueous species, the solubilities of AnO2(cr) become equal to those of the amorphous solids. This indicates that the crystalline dioxides are covered by amorphous hydroxide layers.

Systematics of Hydrolysis Constants of Tetravalent Actinide Ions

Systematic trends of mononuclear and polynuclear hydrolysis constants of tetravalent actinide ions were analyzed by using an electrostatic hard sphere model. The effective charges of actinide ions were introduced into the model by considering possible contributions of non-electrostatic interactions of actinide ions in addition to those of ordinary electrostatic ones. The systematic trends of hy...

Oxyhydroxy Silicate Colloids: A New Type of Waterborne Actinide(IV) Colloids

At the near-neutral and reducing aquatic conditions expected in undisturbed ore deposits or in closed nuclear waste repositories, the actinides Th, U, Np, and Pu are primarily tetravalent. These tetravalent actinides (AnIV) are sparingly soluble in aquatic systems and, hence, are often assumed to be immobile. However, AnIV could become mobile if they occur as colloids. This review focuses on a ...

Biotransformation of uranium and other actinides in radioactive wastes

Microorganisms affect the solubility, bioavailability, and mobility of actinides in radioactive wastes. Under appropriate conditions, actinides are solubilized or stabilized by the direct enzymatic or indirect nonenzymatic actions of microorganisms. Biotransformation of various forms of uranium (ionic, inorganic, and organic complexes) by aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms has been extensivel...

Sanex - Btp Process Development Studies

Bis-triazinyl-pyridines (BTPs) have been developed at CEA-Marcoule to separate actinides(III) from lanthanides(III). Although high separation performances were observed in the counter-current hot test carried out in 1999 on a highly active effluent, the extraction and back-extraction yields of actinides(III) were lower than expected from calculation. A strong sensitivity of the extractant towar...

Processing Time Effects on Functional and Antioxidant Properties of the Quinoa Proteins Hydrolyzed with Alcalase and Pancreatin

Background and Objectives: Antioxidants are used to decrease oxidation of oils and increase shelf life of foods for centuries. Nowadays, researchers investigate for the replacement of synthetic antioxidants with antioxidants from natural sources. The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of quinoa enzyme-hydrolyzed proteins on functional and antioxidant properties of the produced pep...
